April 19, 2026 - The Work Goes On.

Pr. Daniel Enriquez

In Nehemiah chapter 4, we encounter a powerful truth about perseverance in the face of opposition. The story reveals that when God's people returned to Jerusalem after 70 years of captivity, much work remained—specifically, rebuilding the city walls. What makes this narrative so compelling is the reality that not everyone wanted to see God's work succeed. Sambalat and Tobiah mocked the builders, questioned their abilities, and disparaged their materials, even suggesting that a fox could knock down their wall. Yet despite the mockery, threats, and discouragement, the people had one thing that made them unstoppable: a mind to work. This phrase captures the essence of unified purpose and divine determination. When we face opposition in our own spiritual journeys—whether through external criticism or internal doubt—we're reminded that the work of God goes on. The key isn't our strength or resources, but our willingness to turn to God in prayer, unite with fellow believers, and commit ourselves to the task He's given us. Like Nehemiah, we don't need to respond to every critic; we need to keep building. When God's people are unified in purpose and set their hearts to do His work, they become unstoppable, accomplishing extraordinary things that reflect not human effort but divine power working through willing vessels.
